The Yill can power a modern workstation for two to three days
There’s nothing more annoying than sitting down at a coffee shop with your laptop, connecting to the shop’s WiFi, and then realizing your computer’s battery is just about to die. There are plenty of establishments that offer free WiFi but often there will be no outlets. A new invention makes it easy for you to bring a lot of power with you, wherever you might go.
Germany-based Younicos have created a mobile lithium titanium battery pack called the Yill. The device looks more like a rolling suitcase modeled after a yo-yo than a source of renewable energy, but it does win points for style. Designed by Werner Aisslinger, the Yill can power a modern workstation for two to three days.
The mobile energy storage unit plugs into a charging station that take in power “from renewable energy sources” (they neglect to explain exactly which ones). Or you can just plug it into a normal power socket. The device stores up to 700Wh and it takes just four hours to charge. The vacuum-sized device can provide up to 300W at any time.
