A Grand Prize Winner will receive a $500,000 grant
YouTube is hosting an online film festival, and will be sending the top 10 finalists to kick off The 69th Annual Venice Film Festival this August with their films. A Grand Prize Winner will receive a $500,000 grant to produce a new work alongside Ridley Scott’s television production company, Scott Free Productions.
Submissions will be 15 at a maximum of minutes and will be accepted from February 2nd until March 31st and then voted on by viewers worldwide. The festival is being sponsored by Emirates Airlines, according to Indiewire.
The festival, which has no entry fee, is an important symbol of how online video platforms are slowly breaking into both film and television industries by curating original programming.
