Study: Hollywood Not Losing Much To Piracy After All

BitTorrent did not have any significant effect on Box Office earnings in the US . . .

 
Hollywood is guilty of engendering and encouraging piracy; this according to a new study that was carried out by two economic professors from Wellesley College and the University of Minnesota. The study tries to find some correlations between the launch invention and launch of the BitTorrent and the rise of piracy with the claimed diminishing returns of Hollywood.

The study tracks box office earnings both in the US as well as in other major capitals in the world and measures these to compare the earnings before BitTorrent piracy and after. It turns out that there isn’t a significant dent in Box Office earnings in the US at all. The comparison shows that the launch of the BitTorrent did not have any significant effect on Box Office earnings in the US although there was a 7% dip in international earnings owing to the the same.
