The developers who give consumers the chance to create their own apps
FundedApps – the developers who give consumers the chance to create their own apps – has brought its first publicly-sourced app to market.
Father of two Sean Connolly submitted his idea for an app – Share My ABCs – to FundedApps via his smartphone in February. FundedApps’ revolutionary service allows anyone with an app idea to potentially see it created, developed and marketed with full investor backing. FundedApps’ viability committee and team of investors identified Share My ABCs as an outstanding and commercially viable idea.
After an extensive development programme and an investment from FundedApps of £30,000 to date, Share My ABCs is now available to download from the Apple App Store as an iPad app. Sean will go on to earn 25 per cent of all profits from the app’s downloads.
Share My ABCs is the first app of its kind to allow users to trace letters, shapes and messages before sharing them electronically via email, Facebook or Twitter. Sean’s app idea was conceived whilst teaching his daughter to write in hospital, after she was diagnosed with a brain tumour and couldn’t attend nursery.
Having investigated other routes to market for his app, including hiring a team of developers, Sean discovered FundedApps and submitted his idea using the company’s app. FundedApps’ commercial and innovation team worked on Share My ABCs to make the app more commercially viable, introducing the app’s USP – the ability to share traced messages with friends and family electronically.
Jamie Lyons, co-founder of FundedApps, commented: “Our aim is to build profitable products for people who have brilliant ideas but don’t have access to the resources to make them happen. Since launching in February this year, we’ve received thousands of app ideas from across the world, however, Sean’s idea really stood out as an idea we could bring to market.
“As this was the first publicly-sourced app idea we’ve brought to life, the project has been completely bespoke – we’ve taken our time to ensure that every detail of Share My ABCs is perfect. Through Sean’s original idea, we’ve created a completely new educational environment for children to immerse themselves in. We believe the ability to share hand-written messages with loved ones will elevate a child’s learning to the next level.”
To date, FundedApps has received several thousand submissions from people on every continent. One in five app ideas is explored further.
