Panasonic’s Life Innovation Container

Tech giant Panasonic has developed a portable solar powered plant called “Life Innovation Container.”

A kind of solar powered generator that can transported by rail, truck or ship. It’s primary function will be to serve as a backup energy generator for disaster relief and a support center for off-grid areas.

The Life Innovation Container is equipped with eighteen high output Sanyo HIT solar modules. Also on board are 48 storage batteries and an inverter capable of generating 6.7KWh. This set-up can provide disaster relief teams electricity for at least three days even without sunlight.

Recently the Life Innovation Center was used by the Indonesian Red Cross to provide electricity for office equipment during JUMBARA 2011. This is an event for Indonesian kids who are a part of the Youth Red Cross Association. Children are taught skills that will help them deal with disasters and accidents.
