A team of high school students from Bulacan has developed a battery-operated robot that can detect “botcha” or “double-dead” meat.
The students from Dr. Yanga College, who assembled the “anti-botcha” robot for three months, topped the National Robotics Competition and also won an award at a robotics competition in the US.
The group won third place in the “food factor” division of the First Lego League World Festival in Missouri.
The invention has also earned the praise of the Department of Science and Technology.
The battery-operated robot features a color and temperature sensor that lights up if the meat examined is contaminated.
It also utilizes two UV ray emitters for automatic disinfection.
